Great, more sex coverage

The Sun is writing about the Podcast site, but once again it is about sex and only sex in podcasting. You know, there is an Adult Podcast Site they could write about instead of sending all that worthless porn traffic to PodcastDirectory.com. I guess I have to clean out the adult stuff from Podcast Directory (which is hard because there are so many sick people out there searching for stuff). You should see some of the requests that come in–I didn’t even know people did half this stuff, let alone podcasted about it. It’s a strange world.]]>

Sheepish grin

The Post’s Olympic blogger complimented my comments on former Olympic sports, but then said that I called him lazy (which I didn’t but hey, with Shani and Chad now at peace he’s got to stir up something). Actually he seems pretty cool for a cheese-lover (yea, he guzzles cheeze and not the good in-the-can-spray-down-your-throat-type but the real stuff that you pay top dollar for). At least he is blogging steadily about what it is like on the street, at the more obscure sports, and how his day is going with his fellow media types. I’m now pushing him to look into Broomball as an Olympic sport. I think it could lead to several international incidents that would make Shani v. Chad look like a childhood spat. Well…maybe that is not the best analogy as they already do look like kids. But just think of the potential of a half a dozen guys on the ice with brooms doing battle with each other. Think curling, hockey, and WWE wrestling all thrown into one.]]>

Davis pulls out of 10,000

Shani Davis has pulled out of the 10,000 which isn’t really his strong suit. Shani was 7th or 8th in the 5,000 (which Chad Hendircks won) and Chad is expected to win the 10k as well. This should put an end to the Shani-Chad stuff, as they did actually shake hands last night during the medal ceremony. I’ve already sworn off any more on that subject, looking instead to find some good stories from the Olympics as they wind down.]]>

Car blown up at the Olympics

Olympic security decided to blow up a car that was left running outside a building. A ‘controlled explosing’ blew up the car, that turned out to be not much more than a false alarm. Reminds me of a story from Salt Lake. On the plane home, I was sitting with a ‘security contractor’ who was working in the SLC war room during the Olympics. He told me a bit about some of the systems they were using to ‘watch’ the Olympics (this was back when I was working in a similar field) and how they did quite a bit of racial profiling with the cameras. One story I remember is that they had a report of a bunch of Arab looking guys heading toward Salt Lake in an old school bus with the windows painted over. Needless to say, a bus-bomb at the Olympics would have done tremendous damage. A major alert was called and, according to this guy on the plane, a chopper full of special forces was sent down to intercept the bus. Their Blackhawk helicopter landed in front of the bus, which slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting it. The commando guys got out and surrounded the bus, and were kind of surpised to find it was a bus full of pot-smoking Mexican guys who weren’t even that sure what state they were in. Alert cancelled. Who knows what stories are true…but I did find it interesting.]]>

The Russian Uniform Question

The company that designed the uniforms has been warned by the IOC that they are running afoul of the trademark and sponsor rules for suppliers. There is a threat of a $1 million fine and on top of that, the maker is threatening to counter sue the Russian Olympic committee because some of the athletes are not wearing the gear (they say it hurts and looks ugly). ]]>

Navy QB charged with rape

Navy’s QB was charged with rape, and despite a multi-paragraph story in the Post you don’t end up knowing a whole lot more than that. “No comment” is said a few times, along with the boring rehash of previous stories and a rundown on his statistics last year, but other than that, you don’t get many details on what happened. I haven’t looked at the depth charts for next year, eventhough I’ve already received my season ticket renewal form. Guess I have to get on the ball.]]>
