I grabbed the top photo off the Air Force’s website. Minimum Interval Take Off of some tankers in Europe, and below a MITO B-52 many years ago. MITO was used to get all the planes into the air as fast as humanly possible (in case the airbase was nuked by a Russian ICBM). The BBC reports that British and Zulu officials are gathering in South Africa to mark the 125th anniversary of one of Britain’s heaviest military defeat. Some 1,500 British soldiers were killed as they were defeated in the 1879 battle of Isandhlwana, while, on the same day, 145 South Wales Borderers held off an army of Zulu warriors in the battle of Rorke’s Drift – immortalised by the 1963 film, Zulu. If you haven’t seen the movie Zulu, you probably won’t understand this battle. Michael Caine’s first film is one for the ages. The final 20 minutes will have you on the edge of your seat. ]]>
