Guardian: The six year long investigation into the Omagh bombing – the worst single atrocity of the Troubles – took an extraordinary turn yesterday when it was revealed that a Special Branch officer is to be questioned for allegedly telephoning through an anonymous warning. Now that doesn’t mean the Brits bombed the Irish. They have Republicans in custody I believe for the bombing, but it doesn’t open up some questions like “did the British let it happen?” I suspect the guy was probably a deep cover agent who didn’t want to spoil his assignment, but to just let the bombers go in and blow up things begs the questin “why are you a deep cover agent? Do you think they are going to do something more severe??” ]]>

The Chaplain blog talks about being a first responder to the military hospital near the Mosul attacks. It’s a pretty heavy read as he deals with the wounded, the dying, and the dead. He also dealt with those who still had a bit of humor about them even after seeing the carnage before them. “John”, a First Sergeant, asked me, “How does my face look?” knowing he had been badly burned and would probably have some scaring. He was covered in blood, pus, and charred skin so I said, “First Sergeant, you look better than some people I know back home.” He laughed and we prayed. ]]>
